I started this site in December 2007 when my husband, Collin, and I were trying to start a family. Thinking (hoping) it would happen quickly I stopped drinking alcohol. This may not seem like a big deal but you should know that we live in Wisconsin. Enough said, right? Since I was no longer having a glass of wine to unwind at the end of the week My Merlot became that release.
Like many things in life our journey to parenthood was not as we expected. It took 10 long months, numerous doctor appointments and finally a prescription of fertility drugs before we received the good news.
Since that time we have welcomed two beautiful little boys.
Keaton Bruske
in December 2008
At 2 years old Keaton is an active little bugger who would spend all day outside if he could. Sometimes we let him because the screaming that ensues when it’s time to come in probably frightens the neighbors. He is serious, an extremely hard worker, and has his Mama’s temper. He’s known around here as Keats, Keaters, The Stink, Stink-a-Link, and Bruske – yes, like the beer.

Hutton Andrew
in June 2010
At 6 months Hutton is an easy-going little boy. He spends most of his day smiling; in fact people have asked us if he ever stops smiling. Yes, easy-going and smiley, except between the hours of 11 pm and 12 am. Could someone please tell me why this child wakes up every night between 11 and 12 and screams his little head off?? He has bright blue eyes, blonde wispy hairs, and chubby little thighs. He’s known around here as Hutt, Hutter Butters, Hutton Button, Meatball, and Frank the Tank.

This site now chronicles my experience with motherhood and our life with the boys.
Motherhood is everything and nothing like I expected it to be.
It is at times so much harder. It is at times so much easier. It is always so much better.
