Baby Kono IV: 35/36 Weeks and Guess Those Baby Stats (RE-OPENED)

35 Weeks
36 weeks
My phone has been blowing up the past few days with people wondering how things are going and are you, like, STILL pregnant??

Yes.  Yes, I am.

Things around here were radio silent last week because, ummm, well, I was dealing with some personal issues.  Some very painful and bleeding personal issues.

Okay, fine, let's just cut to the chase....my butt exploded.

You just reread that, didn't you?  And now you're thinking, did she just seriously write that?

Yes. Yes, she did.

As I snuggled into my ice pack last Wednesday night Collin looked up from his post on the couch and laughed just a little, "I don't know what you are going through, but it doesn't look fun. I actually feel bad for you......so, is it like you ate too many jalapenos, or what?"

"Uhhh....no, it's more like I was de-seeding jalapenos and forgot to wear gloves.  Oh, and I was using my butt.  And then I sat on the knife."

What I'm saying is, where are the hemorrhoid care packages?  Someone get on that!

So after spending weeks hoping I would go into labor, I spent last week hoping I would not. The thought of pushing anything in that area made me want to fall over and die.  But the good thing about this whole experience is that every other pregnancy complaint (well, except for the acid reflux) has magically disappeared.  Funny how that happens, isn't it? While, yes, the constant pressure on my bladder is uncomfortable, I am feeling the best I have felt in weeks!  And I'm very, very grateful for that!

So....what other news is there to report?  Not a whole lot, really.  I have officially graduated from the high risk doctor, woo hoo!  And have officially stopped taking the weekly progesterone injections. I took my last one a week ago today.  I was trying to get out of that one but my OB really wanted me to take it....reduces the NICU stay, blah, blah, blah.  I know, I know, it was the right thing to do for Miss Stella, so I did.  But today he didn't even bother trying to talk me into it, "You're not taking your injection this week are you?" "Nope." End scene.

As of tomorrow I will be 36 weeks along.  As of Wednesday I will be the most pregnant I have ever been, ever and there is no doubt in my mind that that isn't largely due to all of your thoughts and prayers.  Thank you, guys! Thank you so, so much!

Okay! Now! Since I have officially passed all of the dates that were originally guessed in our Baby Stat game, let's re-open guesses, shall we???? All previous guesses are now null and void.  Here are the rules once again.....

And don't worry, when that time comes, we will make sure you all know about it (promise....even if I have another hemorrhoid.)

Baby Kono IV: 34 Week Update AND Guess Those Baby Stats!!

34 Weeks
I'm cringing as I upload this photo because I know how terrible I look in it but the truth is, it is pretty depictive of how I feel right now. Everything hurts. Sitting hurts. Standing hurts. Laying hurts. Walking (OMG) Huuuuuurts!

When my nurse called me back this morning and asked how I was doing I just smiled and laughed and she knew exactly what that meant.  "That head is just so low and there is nothing left of your cervix to support her," she reassured me that I'm not nuts, I really am this uncomfortable.

__

Here's a little guide to know what stage of pregnancy you are in:

Your response to a well wisher telling you, Oh! I hope you make it two more weeks, is:

A. "Two weeks! I'm hoping for four!  I love being pregnant!"

B. You find yourself getting a tad bit teary but say, "I hope so, too" while in your mind you are thinking, I do hope so, right?

C. You want to punch him/her in the face.

**

If you answered A....you are still in pregnancy bliss.  Enjoy this! Dress that bump up! Get out there and be proud, Mama!

If you answered B....you are starting to get uncomfortable. There may be tears now and then, that's okay. Take it easy, give yourself a break. Treat yourself to something you like; you are doing good Mama.

If you answered C...yup, you are at the end of your rope.  If this baby doesn't come soon violence may ensue.  You can do this, Mama, you can, but it may not be pretty. Eat skittles by the handful, it won't help the pain but at least they taste good.

__

I probably don't need to tell you my response to that statement is C.

SO!  When the doctor told me I am now 3 cm dilated I may have let out a little squeal of delight this morning! I'm getting closer!!!

I know, I know.  This is so awkward, isn't it?  I mean, how are you supposed to reply to this....yay? You're probably going to have a premie?!

I get it. I know I shouldn't be hoping that she comes sooner rather than later, but my body is wrecked and I am hoping she comes sooner rather than later.

My doctors both seem very happy with how far we've made it.  She is now estimated to weigh 5 lbs 1 oz and if the contractions I've been having lately (which have been very, very strong) pick up in frequency they don't think it will be long.  My regular OB told me last Friday that he thinks of me a couple of nights a week wondering if tonight will be the night.  My high risk doctor gave me his phone number today to text him some pictures if I don't make it to next week's appointment. While it is always scary to be looking at a pre-term delivery and an inevitable NICU stay, I feel good with where we are and how healthy she looks. I did get the booster steroid injection for her lungs today and I had my Strep B culture done last Friday and those results came back negative, yay!  This is the first pregnancy I've had the Strep B test done and gotten results back before going into labor; I'm so thankful he did it early. She was sucking on her hand and taking lots of respirations today and my doctor joked that she is probably ready for some milk, you can't support those cheeks on amniotic fluid alone! While my fluid levels are still high, they are not at an alarming level.

I'm just ready.  I'm ready to meet this little girl.

So with all of that, it's high time for a little....

The Background:
Just a little information to help you with your guesses:
  • As of tomorrow, Tuesday, October 6th, I will be 34 weeks. (However, just a bit of a disclaimer, I believe that is a bit ahead of the game and think I will officially be 34 weeks on Friday, October 9th - let that affect your guessing as it will)
  • Keaton's stats were as follows:
    • Born at 36 weeks

The Prize:
A $5 Starbucks gift card. Unless you hate coffee, then we can figure out something else. (But how can you hate coffee, hooooowww? Kidding. I know some of you hate coffee. We can still be friends, but it might be a bit awkward.  Haha!)

___

Two things to finish this....

1) A 34-week comparison picture.  I figured I better do this again this week because it will be the last 4-pregnancy comparison I can do since Hutt was born before 35 weeks.

2) Thank you, thank you, thank you for all of your prayers through this pregnancy! We can not say thank you enough!  We appreciate every thought, every prayer, every good wish we have received.  If I could just ask for a couple of more it would be that we have a safe delivery and that Baby Stella is as healthy and strong as she can be. (And Dear God, if I have to carry this child another 2 weeks+ please don't let me harm anyone!)
