A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down

If you wake up on a beautiful spring morning and find yourself in a sort of depressed funk I highly suggest getting in your car, turning on the country music and taking a ride in the country. There is just something about meandering through small rural towns...so good for the soul.

Hmm...I'd say the stress has really gotten to you Kate! (Like how I pulled from your last post?) Country music?? I'm okay with the country roads, and maybe with a little John Denver or Bruce Springstein. But country music? You've been gone too long my friend. We've lost you.

Aubrey - you make me laugh! I seem to go in spurts with the country music. If you would have asked me even a month ago I would have told you I'm NOT a country music person. But for the past couple of weeks its been working for me. Lately I seem to be in the mood for extremes - country or hip hop/rap so the Top 40 or whatever you want to call our normal station just hasn't been cutting it for me. Since we're too far removed from any city, rap is out, so country it has been. I'll probably read this in a month or two and cringe :)

You have rap/hip hop up north??? Are you sure? I thought there were only country music stations up there, so I didn't even think twice about it when I read this... ;)

Em - to be honest with you I only know of one (1) good Top 40 station, one (1) good Country station, and one (1) good Hard Rock/Heavy Metal (whatever the PC term is these days) station. I'm not quite sure what the hell else is filling the airwaves. Oh wait, yes, oldies. Pft. Yuck. I hate oldies. Collin, on the other hand loves, LOVES!! oldies. Just this morning (after I got a flat tire and he had to bring me to work - another story) I said "what is this shit you listen to?"

You HATE the oldies??? Now I really don't know you! I thought you liked them and didn't we always scream at the top of our lungs to the oldies and Spice Girls?? Hmm...you think you know someone.

I totally understand you change of music tastes. That's what I do too. But I don't tend to such extremes. Pretty much never turned on a country station in my life, not really big on rap, heavy metal irrates me and the religious stations here are over the top. So I have the top 40 which just over play the same 6-10 songs. That's why I spend so much time making my own cd's with MP3s. I have one right now in the van that has over 200 songs on it. I've totally gotten hooked on Modest Mouse.

Aubrey - No, I do not like the oldies. Did we really like them??? Why do I not remember that. I do love me some Spice Girls though. I still have that tape we made somewhere....oh, those were good days.

You are always up on music, I've never even heard of Modest Mouse!

I am with you 1000000%
Driving country roads, listening to good music, and sipping on some fresh coffee is one of our favorite things to do. When the weather permits we even make our way up into your neck of the woods!
When I was living on Prescott, AZ for college, I got a job as a delivery girl at Pizza Hut just because I love driving with the windows down listening to good tunes!
